Based near the city of Durban. Our work is mainly around tree plantation impacts and issues that affect rural communities and biodiversity, although we also monitor the negative effects of pulp and paper mills.

Project co-ordinator with a NGO coalition in South Africa. Also working with an international group of forest policy focused organisations. We have carried out research on tree plantations (fake forests) in South Africa, Swaziland and Tanzania. Also monitoring and trying to influence international processes related to climate and forests.

Hi Wally,

Thanks for accepting my request. Regarding your query on Red Panda threats, the first and foremost reason is the transporting of this shy animal in zoo of the world. It is estimated that it is distributed in 188 zoo of the world and their no in captivity is 436. Wild population is calculated to be 2500. And the other two reasons are poaching and habitat destruction. However, we are working with the local communities to stabilize the population.
